SANDRINGHAM: No calls to fresh appeal into Alisa Dmitrijeva’s death

A fresh police appeal into the death of a teenage girl found on the Royal Sandringham Estate has not received one phone call.
The body of 17-year-old Alisa Dmitrijeva was found on New Year’s Day last year in an isolated woodland between Sandringham and Anmer by a dog walker.
Alisa was last seen in Friar’s Street, Lynn, during the early hours of August 31 but had attended a beach party in Snettisham earlier that evening.
Two weeks ago, police put out a fresh appeal for information into Alisa’s death but are still awaiting calls.
A police spokesman said: “As yet, as a consequence of the new appeal we issued on Christmas Eve we have yet to receive any new calls from the public.
“This is disappointing, not just for the police but also for Alisa’s family. We feel sure someone knows something about this case, but maybe too scared to tell us.
“We’d stress the case remains open and active. Please help the police and Alisa’s family for the closure they desperately need in this case.
“We’d re-iterate that the key time we need information on is when she was last seen at the end of August last year. We remain keen to hear from anyone who has any information on her movements in the King’s Lynn and Wisbech areas between Tuesday, August 30, and Tuesday September 6.”
As previously reported, Alisa, who was originally from Latvia, went missing from her home in Wisbech in August 2011 and was last seen alive in Friars Street, Lynn.
Her body was found in a copse off Kings Avenue on January 1 and was confirmed as Alisa eight days later. At the time she was found, police believed she had been there for up to four months.
Two men who were initially arrested on suspicion of the teenager’s murder in May were subsequently told in August that they were no longer suspected of killing her.
In September, it emerged that prosecutors believed there was insufficient evidence to prosecute the men for any offence.
At the same time, detectives admitted it was now “unlikely” that they would be able to prove Alisa had been murdered, suggesting that information obtained since January had undermined their initial murder suspicions.
