Silence at Gaywood Clock
TRAFFIC was halted as hundreds of people gathered to stand in silence for two minutes at Gaywood Clock on Sunday.
Nearby St Faith's Church was also packed for the service of remembrance.
The Deputy Mayor of West Norfolk, Councillor Michael Langwade, estimated 400 people supported the occasion and said: "It was very successful. The turnout was excellent. The service was very moving and we were fortunate that the weather stayed fine for the outside ceremony."
Cllr Langwade said the special significance of the day was on everyone's minds. "I think everyone was full of their own particular thoughts about what Remembrance Sunday means to them."
He was also especially pleased to see so many young people attending. "They were all there, from the scouts and guides to the cadet forces, which was great," he said.
