A Snettisham man is taking on the challenge of completing the London Marathon to raise money for a children’s charity.

Jon Goult is hoping to raise more than £3,000 for Families Against Neuroblastoma by taking on the 26-mile course in April.

Families against Neuroblastoma is based in Hunstanton and offers assistance, support and advice to parents.

Neuroblastoma is a rare cancer which affects about 100 children in the UK each year.

The cancer can develop in the abdomen or adrenal glands and spread to bones, liver and skin.

Mr Goult is looking forward to the challenge along with supporting a good cause.

He said: “It will be the first time I’ve done a marathon - let alone the most prominent event in the English athletics circuit.

“I am quite nervous but I am looking forward to it as well.

“This is a very worthy charity and this cancer can affect anyone.”

Mr Goult, 46, of Peddlers Mews, began running in 1996 and has since then completed half-marathons.

He is preparing for the marathon, which goes ahead on Sunday, April 21.

Mr Goult said: “Training is not going too bad - now the snow has gone. It did hamper things but I am now back on track.

“I go out three times a week.”
