Spate of car crime in South Lynn
BE EXTRA vigilant and keep your cars secure, police are warning after a spate of car crime in South Lynn.
Overnight on Saturday (13) there were four separate thefts in Hillen Road, Morleys Leet and Coopers Court, off Wisbech Road.
Of these incidents, three vehicles had been left insecure and property was stolen.
Temporary Sergeant Donna Brand said: "From the recent spate of vehicle crime it would appear there is an opportunist thief in the area.
"I would urge people to be extra vigilant and make sure their vehicles are locked and secure at all times and not to leave any valuables on show."
Motorists are advised to take all necessary steps to prevent their vehicle from being targeted. These include:
Locking all doors and windows and removing keys from the ignition – even if the vehicle is only being left for a minute or two.
Removing stereos and expensive car audio equipment, preferably entirely or at least from view.
Removing Sat Nav equipment and cradle and any evidence of this – by wiping any marks left on the windscreen.
Removing handbags, purses, sunglasses, laptops and other valuables entirely from the vehicle.
Removing equipment and tools from the back of vans.
If you see any suspicious activity around vehicles or have been offered something for sale that you suspect has been stolen, call the police on 0845 456 4567 or on 999, if a crime is in progress.
