Springwood pupils help save lives

THE aid appeal to help people suffering in some of the world's worst disaster areas has been boosted by the hard work of caring youngsters at Lynn's Springwood High School.

Pupils in class 702 have been helping learning resources manager Mrs Julie Frost to collect items as part of the Aquabox appeal.

Items such as baby clothes, cooking pans, candles, hammers and nails have all been collected and placed in the 75-litre plastic containers, which are fitted with a filter, dispensing tap and purification tablets so water can be collected and used safely.

To help promote the appeal pupils presented an assembly to each house and the sixth form so fellow students knew how they could get involved.

The Aquabox project has been supported by Lynn Trinity Rotary Club, which has sponsored the cost of the boxes.

The school has already managed to fill three boxes for the appeal and is now working on filling a fourth.
