St Germans

WI – THE July meeting of St Germans WI was held in the Memorial Hall and was well attended, with two visitors to swell the numbers. President, Florence Bush welcomed everyone.

The visit to Walpole Water Garden was a success and everyone had enjoyed the meeting with Mr John Cushing.

Diane Denham was the delegate for the Liverpool AGM and she read out her report on the outcome of the resolutions. Diane was thanked by Florence.

Ladies are invited to the Marshland Smeeth Harvest Supper today and 13 ladies accepted and paid.

Birthday gifts were given to June Stubbert, with belated ones for Valerie Ramsbottom, Margaret Cook and Sylvia Hulls.

Speaker, Mr Adrian Osborne gave a talk about his unusual hobby, collecting neckties. He has more than 4,500 and he brought along a good selection. They all had stories, some very amusing. He has ties from everywhere and on every subject. He was thanked by Florence.

Refreshments were served and the raffle drawn.

The competition for an unusual necktie was won by Jean Lawless, 2 Eve Rogers, 3 Ana Bickmore. Eight other entries received a point.
