Steeplejack dies in Sutton Bridge fall
A STEEPLEJACK died at work after falling 20 metres at Sutton Bridge Power Station.
Police and air ambulance crews were called to the station shortly before 4pm on Thursday, but the 52-year-old later died.
The man, who has not been named, is thought to be from Mansfield in Nottinghamshire and was working for a local firm of steeplejacks under contract to GE International, which manages the site.
A spokesman for power station owners EDF Energy said: "We can confirm that tragically there has been a fatal incident at Sutton Bridge Power Station involving a steeplejack working at the station.
"The Health and Safety Executive has been informed and EDF Energy will be working GE International and the Health and Safety Executive to help with the investigation in to this incident.
"Our deepest sympathy is with the steeplejack's family and friends at this time."
