Stow bridge pub raft racers raise £6,000
THE ANNUAL Heron pub raft race which attracts crowds to the river at Stow Bridge each summer has raised another four-figure sum for East Anglian Air Ambulance.
This year's event, held on July 15, broke its previous records and has been able to donate 6,000 to the fund.
The money was handed over on Thursday by Andrew and Julie Hyde, who are landlord and landlady of the Heron. It was the pub which came up with the idea three years ago and Mr and Mrs Hyde are members of the organising committee.
"The event has always supported the Air Ambulance and this is our best result so far," said Mrs Hyde. "We would like to thank everyone who helped and supported the event and we plan to be back again next year."
