SWAFFHAM: A close shave leaves Rob feeling so cool

The man who helps to keep things ticking over nicely at a Swaffham care home kept a cool head as the snow fell this week.
For 38-year-old Rob Davis, the head of maintenance at The Paddocks Care Home in Cley Road, had his head shaved on December 20 to help a children’s charity.
And with his bald pate only now starting to sprout a few short hairs again, he has been feeling the effect of the cold spell more than most.
Rob, who travels to work from his North Lynn home, said: “I didn’t feel the weather effect at first – but with this cold snap I’m certainly starting to now!”
Through his head shave, he raised £160 in sponsorship from the staff, residents, friends and family for the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children.
Rob, who is in his eighth year of keeping everything running smoothly at The Paddocks, said: “I mainly did this because there’s been a lot of bad publicity in the press about children’s charities and they are going to be suffering because of it.
“I wanted to do something positive to help the NSPCC, especially as it was the Christmas period.”
Jean Knowles, the home’s diversional therapist, carried out the shave. She said: “In the care sector we have to be able to do a lot of things!
“It was a good fun afternoon and Rob had a head massage with cream at the end.”
