Swaffham design winners
TWO students have been rewarded for coming up with the top designs for a new logo for Swaffham Youth Town Council.
Jessica Webster and Jess Randle, from Swaffham’s Sacred Heart Convent School, produced the winning and runner-up designs, respectively, in a competition held among students at their school and Hamond's High School in the town.
And on Friday the girls were invited to the Mayor’s annual reception at the Assembly Rooms to receive prizes of 50 and 10 worth of art vouchers, respectively, from Mayor Shirley Matthews, as one of her last duties before stepping down from office on Wednesday.
Youth council chairman Emily Wright announced the winners at the reception, which was attended by about 100 invited guests from the town. Jessica's roundel design now becomes the youth council's logo.
Mrs Matthews thanked the councillors and staff for their help during her third consecutive year at the helm.
She was presented with gifts, including a cut-glass vase, beauty vouchers, chocolates and a bouquet, bought by her fellow councillors and the council staff.
