Swaffham Lions have fun while raising funds

Swaffham Lions have been busy fundraising for local good causes while also having a good time over the past month.

More than 60 people enjoyed a performance of big band music from the Downham Swing Orchestra, at Swaffham Hamond’s High School, which had those attending up on their feet and dancing.

In the Lions’ annual tenpin bowling challenge, held at Fakenham bowling alley, Dennis Tallon and his wife Pam emerged as winners of the men’s and women’s sections, respectively, for the second year running.

Swaffham Assembly Rooms was decorated with pumpkins for a special Hallowe’en Quiz in which 12 teams took part.

The questions were prepared by Lions’ president Steve Hudson and posed, with humour, by Keith Mitchell.

Spooky Sextet won by one point from a Lions’ team called Clueless.

And for last Friday’s annual BBC Children in Need appeal, the Lions had two Pudsey bears, one at the Assembly Rooms and the other at the town’s Waitrose store, out collecting a total of £581.
