Terrington's Aaron meets dance idol
A YOUNG dancer who is dreaming of a career on the West End has been enjoying his moment in the spotlight after he performed to a TV audience of millions before meeting his stage idol.
Aaron Watson (9), of Terrington St Clement, put his best foot forward at this month's BAFTA Awards when he appeared in a special show celebrating the 60th anniversary of the prestigious ceremony.
The youngster, who has been dancing with Lynn's Footlights school for two-and-a-half years, was selected to be part of the past, present and future of Billy Elliott – featuring dancers who have played the role and those yet to come.
And to complete a fantastic week for Aaron, he was given the opportunity to meet dance star Wayne Sleep backstage at Lynn Corn Exchange following his appearance in The Magic of the Musicals.
Aaron's grandfather Gordon Ebbs, of Grafton Close, Reffley, passed a note to staff asking if it would be possible for Mr Sleep to announce that Aaron was in the audience and if there was any chance the two could meet.
He told the Lynn News: "At the end of the show he made the announcement and we went back stage, where Aaron did some dancing for him.
"He was absolutely over the moon. Aaron idolises Wayne Sleep and he was such a nice man and so down to earth. He could not believe how good a dancer he was, we were absolutely amazed."
