Thoughtful gift for Africa
MEMBERS of the Freebridge Marshland District Guides celebrated Thinking Day with a range of African-themed activities.
Around 90 rainbows, brownies, guides and rangers, aged five to 16, gathered at Terrington St Clement Village Hall last Sunday.
The girls worked in groups to play games, make African masks and necklaces, complete a quiz, and get stuck into a chocolate fountain.
District Commissioner Mrs Jane Lawson said the girls had earned a special Love in Action badge for their hard work and had also sent the Ugandan-based charity a 90 donation.
Thinking Day, held on February 22, was first celebrated in 1927 and marks the joint birthday of world chief guide Olave Baden-Powell and her husband, the founder of the scout movement, Robert Baden-Powell.
