Time Team launch for Lynn museum
LYNN Museum has celebrated the completion of a £1.2 million redevelopment by welcoming local dignitaries and investors to view the project at first hand.
The overhaul has seen the museum's collections completely redisplayed in a bid to make it easier for visitors young and old to see the contribution the town has made to the region over the centuries.
A key feature of the project is the museum's new Seahenge Gallery, which opened to the public earlier this year, and is dedicated to the unique Bronze Age timber circle lifted from the shoreline at Holme in 1999.
British archaeologist and Time Team expert Dr Francis Pryor officially opened the new-look museum with his wife Maisie Taylor and they were joined by Dame Liz Forgan, chairman of the Heritage Lottery Fund which helped finance the scheme.
She said: "Lynn Museum is just the kind of place where Heritage Lottery Fund money should be spent and we are delighted to have played a part in its redevelopment.
"This building has always been the beating historic heart of the local community and, as a centre of excellence, it will not only continue to draw in people from local communities and further afield but also help regenerate the area and boost its economy."
