Tribute to Gaywood man found hanging in cell

AN inquest has been opened into the death of 28-year-old Jonny Riley, who was found hanging in his cell at Norwich Prison.

Mr Riley, of 96 Bagge Road, Gaywood, died on Wednesday, March 12, while on remand for two alleged offences of assault causing actual bodily harm and criminal damage.

Greater Norfolk Coroner William Armstrong opened and adjourned the inquest for a date to be fixed during a hearing on Tuesday.

Mr Riley's sister-in-law Diane Riley has asked us to clarify that he had been living in Bagge Road and not the address printed in an article in Tuesday's Lynn News.

She said that while Mr Riley had problems with the law he did have redeeming qualities.

Mrs Riley added: "He was a rogue but he was our lovable rogue.

"He cared very much for his family and the people he knew, there are two sides to every person."
