Warning after conman in Lynn

A RENEWED warning has been sent to householders after another incident of a bogus water official conning his way into a west Norfolk home.

The trickster got in to a home in Dawney Avenue, Lynn, on Wednesday after claiming to be from the waterboard and saying he needed to test the water pressure.

Police believe he was intending to distract the householder to burgle her home, though he later fled empty handed.

The attacker, who struck at around 8.10pm, was in his mid 30s and wearing a black tracksuit.

He had short black hair, was about five foot nine inches and of medium build.

Earlier this month great grandmother Alice Stimpson, of Northwold, was pinned in a chair and had 300 stolen when she answered the door to a man claiming to be from the waterboard.

Police have urged householders to think before opening the door.

Anyone who witnessed the Dawney Avenue attack should ring PC Laura Shreeve at Lynn police station on 0845 456 4567 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
