WATLINGTON: Traffic fears over housing scheme
Plans for a new house and three chalets on land in Watlington have been backed by borough council officials, subject to legal agreements being completed.
Parish councillors have opposed the scheme for the site at 18 Rectory Lane, arguing it would increase risks to drivers and pedestrians in the area, particularly youngsters attending the village’s primary school and pre-school.
One of eight letters of objection submitted by residents also warned of “near misses” in the area.
But West Norfolk Council planning officers have recommended that the application, submitted by Fred Dunn, is approved at the authority’s planning committee meeting next week.
However, approval is subject to the completion of a deal securing £60,000 of investment for affordable housing within three months of the meeting taking place.
They say the application should be refused if no such agreement is finalised over that period.
The committee meeting is at the council’s headquarters in Lynn on Monday, January 7.
