We'll never forget
West Norfolk will be honouring those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for their country at a series of Remembrance Day services across the area on Sunday.
At Lynn, the commanding officer and about 25 members of the crew from the Royal Navy mine hunter HMS Brocklesby, which arrives in port today for a weekend visit, will be supporting the town's Remembrance Day commemorations.
Lieutenant Commander Matt Dennis will join Borough Mayor Kathy Mellish, North West Norfolk MP Henry Bellingham, RAF Marham commanding officer Group Captain Phil Osborn and representatives from many other organisations in laying wreaths at the Tower Gardens war memorial.
The civic procession will leave the Town Hall at 10.47am and head along St James Street to Tower Gardens.
Following behind will be a parade of standard bearers, the ship's company from HMS Brocklesby, an RAF Marham contingent and cadets.
Lynn Town Band will be providing the music at the war memorial where, at 11am, the two-minute silence will be marked by a bugler playing the Last Post and Reveille. Following the laying of about 30 wreaths, there will be a short service with prayers led by the Bishop of Lynn, the Rt Rev James Langstaff.
At 11.22am, the civic procession and parade will reform and march to St Margaret's Church in Saturday Market Place for a Remembrance Day service.
At Hunstanton, holiday centre boss Richard Searle is making available his land train to transport ageing veterans and elderly people from the war memorial in Cliff Parade up the hill to St Edmund's Church for the service.
Hunstanton's parade will muster at the United Services Club in Homefield Road at 10.15am and set off at 10.25am to march through the town to the war memorial.
Taking part will be Town Mayor Richard Bird and town councillors, members of the Royal British Legion, including its women's section, and groups including scouts, cubs, guides, brownies, HM Coastguard, the RNLI and St John Ambulance.
A short wreath-laying ceremony will take place at the memorial and the two-minute silence will be observed at 11am, with the playing of Last Post and Reveille.
Father John Bloomfield will lead prayers before the parade reforms and heads to the church in Greevegate for a service at about 11.30am.
RBL Hunstanton branch chairman Mr Roy Evans said drinks would be served in the church hall.
Swaffham's Remembrance Day parade will march off from Swaffham First and Infants' School in White Cross Road at 10.30am and head along London Street and through the Market Place to the war memorial.
Wreaths will be laid by Town Mayor Shirley Matthews, the RBL, the Royal Naval Association and representatives from other organisations and the two-minute silence will be observed at 11am, with the playing of Last Post and Reveille.
Swaffham vicar the Rev John Smith will lead prayers at the memorial before the procession makes its way to the parish church for the traditional service.
Downham's main Remembrance service will take place in the afternoon, but there will be a small 11am ceremony beside the clock in the Town Square where Downham and District Legion president Ivan Sneezum will read the Exhortation.
At 2.15pm, a contingent from RAF Marham will join participants in the parade mustering in the Town Square before marching off at 2.30pm for the war memorial at the top of Priory Road. Town Mayor John Doyle will lead councillors, dignitaries and representatives of organisations in laying wreaths at a short service.
Afterwards the parade reforms and marches along Church Road to St Edmund's Church for a 3pm service.
Fakenham will also be holding an afternoon tribute service at the town's war memorial, with the parade forming up in the Queens Road car park at 2.20pm.
The procession will march along Norwich Street and into the market square, assembling around the war memorial for a 2.45pm service led by Fakenham rector the Rev Adrian Bell, who is also the local Legion's padre.
Town Mayor Brenda Coldrick will lead the wreath-laying, followed by representatives from the services and organisations.
The two-minute silence will take place at 3pm, with a bugler playing Last Post and Reveille, before a parade to the parish church for the main service.
Deputy Borough Mayor and Mayoress Michael Langwade and Mrs Christine Holding, will be attending a service of remembrance at St Faith's Church, Gaywood, at 10am, then joining in the wreath laying at the Gaywood Clock memorial at 11am.
