Weasenham woman, 57, gets curfew

A WOMAN who breached a restraining order by poking her neighbour with a walking stick has been given a three-month curfew order.

Hilary Carling (57), of The Green, Weasenham, was handed the sentence at Norwich Crown Court on Monday, June 22, when she was told she must remain indoors between 1pm and midnight every day.

She was made the subject of a restraining order in February 2006 which stated she must not harass or insult her neighbours Anthony and Jill Clemow, or anyone else at their home.

Carling stood trial in May accused of assault and was found not guilty by the jury but they found her guilty of breaching the order.

The court heard how she poked Mr Clemow in the back with a walking stick as he was cutting his grass.

Recorder Guy Ayers said: "The curfew is so that Mr Clemow can go about his business, including using his lawnmower, when you will have to be indoors."
