West Lynn PO closure mystery
PENSIONERS in West Lynn are having to struggle without any cash after a week-long closure of the village post office, which is showing no signs of coming to an end.
The post office has been turning customers away and saying there is a problem with its computer systems, it is understood, but although the adjoining shop remains open no-one seems able to say when the problem will be resolved.
One customer said: "Is this just a crafty way of trying to close this post office because they have made a real hash of Lynn? It's a disgrace."
The 68-year-old has been trying to get her pension since Monday, but said the only response she could get from Post Office head office was to use Loke Road post office in Lynn.
She added: "Not everybody has a car to get to Clenchwarton and for elderly people who haven't got good legs they can't get up and down the ferry steps to get into Lynn."
A Post Office spokesman told the Lynn News: "We apologise to customers if the post office has been closed. We are not aware of any particular technical problems and are liaising with the sub-postmaster to try to resolve this."
