West Norfolk rubbish won't be wasted

SOME of the 27,000 tonnes of green waste recycled by Norfolk householders every year will soon be available to buy back as compost.

The waste is collected, shredded and transformed into compost in just 12 weeks.

Mr Ian Monson, Norfolk County Council cabinet member for environment and waste, said: "Selling compost back to the public is just one of the many improvements to our recycling centre service."

"Green waste is the most popular material that householders bring to Norfolk's recycling centres. We've held several green waste compost giveaways in the past and they have been hugely successful," added Mr Dan Jacobs, recycling supervisor at the county council.

The compost will be available in 40 litre bags, priced 3, from the main recycling centres including Lynn.
