WEST WINCH: Music night a grand boost to QEH ward
Cheque presentation to Mr Eaton's Clinic at QEH by fundraisers. LtoR - Rona Willgress, Phyllis and Mick Jakes, Urology Consultant Alan Eaton and Peter Waddison.
Lovers of country and 60s music have helped raise more than £1,000 for urology services at Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
Rona Willgress organised a fundraising dance at the William Burt Centre in West Winch on September 28. She has worked as a volunteer in the urology unit since 1998,
Mrs Willgress said the cheque for £1,026 would be used to buy equipment.
She thanked Peter Waddison, a former patient on the unit, for singing free of charge at the dance and her friend, who wished to remain anonymous, for paying the hire fee for the hall.
She said: “I am also grateful to Adrian Wagg for holding the auction and to Phyllis and Mick Jakes for helping on the night. We received many donations of money and prizes and were well supported by people who came to the dance. I really appreciate everyone’s support.”
