What would you do if terrorists struck in WN?

BUSINESSES across Lynn are being invited to a special event later this month to educate them about what to do if terrorists strike.

Hundreds of enterprises across the Lynn, Hunstanton and Downham areas have already been given information about the multi-agency Project Argus event, being held at the Corn Exchange, Lynn, on Tuesday, January 22.

Part of the event will see organisers running through a terrorism scenario to educate people working in business about emergency planning and business continuity.

The event has been jointly organised by Norfolk Major Incident Team (Normit), Norfolk County Council, West Norfolk Council and Norfolk Police.

West Norfolk Council District Emergency Planning Manager Alison Haines said: "This is a great opportunity for local businesses to work alongside other business people to think seriously about emergency planning.

"We hope that businesses will take advantage of the free advice and support being offered."

A Norfolk Police spokesman said: "It is important to remember there is no specific intelligence to suggest that Norfolk is, or could be, a target at this time.

"It is essential for businesses to have robust contingency plans in place and to have those plans tested at regular intervals.

"Businesses can help the wider community by remaining vigilant and reminding staff to be vigilant."

Anyone wanting to register for the event, which is free, can ring 01603 222016, e-mail epu@norfolk.gov.uk or visit http://www.normit.org/argus. htm
