WIGGENHALL ST GERMANS: Angler robbed at knifepoint
An angler was threatened with a knife as two men stole his car and fishing equipment while he was fishing in Wiggenhall St Germans yesterday afternoon.
The incident happened at Peters Drove Bridge at around 1.50pm, when two men in a black hatchback car approached the fisherman.
The men got out of the vehicle and the angler asked them to help them pack his equipment into his white Mercedes van, which they did, before threatening him with a knife and demanding the van keys.
He handed them over and the two men drove off, one in the van and the other in the car.
The van was found burnt out in Fen Road, in Magdalen, around 10 minutes later.
The men were white, 5ft 7in, of slim build and spoke little English.
One of the men had short brown hair, stubble and was wearing a green jacket with an orange hood.
Police want to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time and may have seen either vehicle, or anyone with information about this robbery.
