Your Big Event - Union Jack pub at Roydon

Members of West Norfolk CAMRA (The Campaign for Real Ale) joined locals at the Union Jack pub in Roydon on Tuesday to celebrate its success in winning the group's award for Pub of the Year 2009.

A regular entry in CAMRA's Good Beer Guide, the pub is described in the latest edition as a "rare village drinkers' pub that relies solely on its wet trade".

The Union Jack is run and owned by Trevor and Mandy Barlow who were delighted to be presented with the award at a packed pub on the night.

"It is a great achievement and an honour to receive this award," they said, thanking local and loyal customers for their support.

In handing over the award, chairman of West Norfolk CAMRA Tim Spitzer said the premises were an excellent example of a pub which served the local community
