Model way for a hero to relax

WE have all endured the ups and downs of modelling, and, no doubt, enjoyed the therapeutic benefits of the hobby, being able to escape from life’s troubles for a few hours. But it is only recently that this has taken on a whole new meaning.

Complaining has become a national trait

THE Big Eye seems to be accusing everyone from parish councillors to the House of Lords of being dishonest, corrupt and venal.

Snow joke at the Baker Lane junction

ROB Archer, pushing his wife in her wheelchair (Two Wheels Good) – and indeed anyone else – is well advised to avoid the junction of Queen Street and Baker Lane.

Never let the facts . . .

NICE to see local author Jim Kelly given such a good spread in the February 10 edition of the Lynn News.

A word in Big Eye’s ear . . .

I WRITE in response to the article written by your correspondent, The Big Eye, titled “Who cares?” published in last Tuesday’s edition of the Lynn News.

History on the football field

I AM directing this letter at past and present North West Norfolk footballers

Why I fear for Henry’s seat

THIS is a copy of a letter I haver written to Henry Bellingham MP.

Dog mess is a curse

OH I’m so looking forward to the long days and short nights.

Why Little Chef staff should get themselves a union

I READ of the distress caused by the early closure of West Lynn’s Little Chef and was shocked to read that the staff had been told by management that “they couldn’t find new jobs in the meantime”.

That was a freaky Friday . . .

I’D like to take this opportunity to reassure your readers about the safety of West Norfolk following the front page article in Tuesday’s Lynn News (Fear on Friday, February 6).

Kindness after raid on jewellers

I JUST wanted to acknowledge and thank everyone who helped care for me after the jewellery robbery at Francis Wain.

At least we spoke up for the tower

WE are all entitled to our views so I found it sad that the letter in the Lynn News from Name and Address supplied had a tantrum over those of us who appealed to Tesco not to destroy the famous tower and were disappointed by it’s destruction.

Fishing for Herrings

I OFTEN wonder whether there are any relations of my late grandfather left in the King’s Lynn area.

Be careful what you wish for . . .

I’VE got a warning to those councils who objected to an incinerator at Costessey, near Norwich, when faced with opposition within their community.

I am trying to piece this group together

I AM starting up a new group for disectologists. Our first meeting will be at Wimbotsham and Stow Village Hall at 7pm on Wednesday, March 14, then hopefully the second Wednesday of each month, a new Group and for Disectologists.

Would this work for Lynn and Hunny?

I HAD the pleasure as a youngster to ride the Lynn to Hunstanton line when it had steam trains.

Don’t let them walk all over us

WHY does it seem that West Norfolk, especially around Lynn, is being used as a dumping ground?

Up in the air with thanks . . .

ON January 16 I organised a charity bingo in aid of the East Anglian air Ambulance and through your paper I would like to say a big thank-you to those shops in town and Gaywood and also Knight’s Hill Farm shop and anybody else who kindly gave to this good cause. A grand total of £253.60p was raised on the evening. Many thanks to you all.

More bins needed

RESIDENTS of Grovelands in Ingoldisthorpe have been increasingly concerned about the problems of irresponsible dog owners who refuse to clean-up after their animals, leaving one particular alleyway resembling a dog toilet.

Light railway: A good idea

A LIGHT rail system for Lynn, as referred to by Rob Archer (Lynn News, January 27), to connect Lynn with Hunstanton, rather than the reinstatement of the conventional railway link so often discussed and as often dismissed – rightly – as impractical, was first mooted at a public meeting in Lynn around 20 years ago.

No Mata Haris

JOHN Martin’s article in your paper is spot on – the position of the twin hatters has always been somewhat dodgy but you in the West are now in a position where your Conservative twin hatter councillors are in an untenable position.

Gradually losing all our tall buildings

n WATCHING the destruction of Campbell’s Tower I wondered if there was some underground movement (no pun intended) to reduce our townscape to the same level as the surrounding area?

Tower was an eyesore

I AM beyond sick and tired of reading letters from people saying it’s a shame about Campbell’s Tower and asking why they knocked it down.

Night time questions at QEH

AN article in the Lynn News (January 6) reported a solicitor describing her client as “more of a nuisance” when he resisted removal in A&E at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

Suffering of a rat caught in lonely trap

I AM writing to express my concern about the actions of certain gamekeepers in the area.

War on the bad driver? It’s high time we had one

I HAVE read with much interest the complaints about the dire standard of driving in Lynn, and I have to say I am in complete agreement.

I’m with Mr King on the Tower...

I WHOLEHEARTEDLY agree with the recent letter from G Thos King regarding the demolition of Campbell’s Tower. If Tesco were as caring about the community as they claim then they would have listened to public opinion and kept the tower as a monument to Campbell’s being an integral part of our history.

Building a legacy or a monstrous new carbunkle?

I HAVE just been to the event organised by Cory Wheelabrator so that other companies could learn about business opportunities connected with building the incinerator.

And let’s declare war on rogue cyclists, too

I WAS incensed by your columnist Rob Archer’s pro-cycling (or should that be anti-motorist) column on page 4 of last Friday’s Lynn News.

Key to kindness

I WOULD just like to say that my faith in human nature has today been restored.

Is this barrier going to make it easier for rail passengers?

YOUR news item last Friday reports that First Capital Connect’s plan to install automatic ticket barriers at Lynn railway station is to go ahead.

Secret cyclists?

THERE is a cycle path that runs by the entrance to the East Coast Business Park.

What’s so wrong with dreaming?

IN reply to Stuart Corrigan’s letter of last Friday regarding a railway between Hunstanton and King’s Lynn, yes I am a dreamer and feel passionate about the area in which I live. But I am not so blinded on this issue not to be aware and understand the many problems of realising this particular dream.

I will continue to fight for change

I NOTICED the letter from ex Downham town mayor Mick Ford in today’s paper (Friday, January 20), and I believe the vast majority of ratepayers agree with his clear and concise views.

They were wrong to demolish Campbell’s Tower

THE Lynn News became quite excited by the wilful destruction of King’s Lynn landmark Campbell’s Tower.

My thanks to three kind gentlemen

I WOULD like to say thank you to the three gentlemen who helped me when I fell over on Thursday, January 12, on the North Lynn Industrial Estate, and hurt my hand.

My dad at Grimston PO

IT is so sad to hear the news of the closure of Grimston Post Office.

What a team effort for kids in hospital

I AM a parent of a child who spends a fair amount of time in hospital on Rudham Ward. We were last in for several weeks in December.

Stand by for the will of the people

YESTERDAY I found myself listening to one of Mr Bellingham’s party chums, Daniel Hanrahan, on Radio 4.

Go to top to make views known

I READ that Caroline Spelman has made her shameful decision to release PFI money for the financing of the proposed incinerator on the edge of our town.
