Funds for the £25,000 Lynn News Help Our Hospice Appeal have already reached an amazing four-figure sum in less than a week since its launch – thanks to generous readers.
Cheques and cash pledges, including an anonymous donation of £1,000, started arriving at Norfolk Hospice, Tapping House in Snettisham as soon as the Lynn News asked for your help.
Hospice chief executive Richard Shaw was delighted with the initial response. He said: “What a great start to the Lynn News Appeal. Such a large donation to kick it off and lots of interest is very encouraging. Every £1 counts and we are very grateful to the newspaper and your readers.
“The people we support are our neighbours and support from our own community is vital to the service we provide.”
In last Friday’s Lynn News we asked our readers to help us equip one of the seven in-patient bedrooms at the new £3.4 million purpose-built hospice at Hillington.
Construction work on the new hospice is well under way and is due to be completed by March. The Lynn News Help Our Hospice Appeal aims to completely decorate and furnish one of the bedrooms providing all the necessary equipment.
The hospice helps people with all kinds of life-limiting illnesses and is able to give the people who look after them a much-needed break.
We are asking you, our readers, to help us support this important cause by raising money through donations or by your own fundraising events.
The fundraising office at Norfolk Hospice, Tapping House will offer support with events, whether it’s advice you need or perhaps promotional material to get yourself and your efforts noticed.
Everyone who is taking part with a fundraising event, whether it’s an individual or a large business, will have the opportunity to publicise their event in the Lynn News free, and we’re happy to take pictures of your fundraiser, or receive ones you have taken.
And as a way of thanks and recognition for your good deeds, everyone who takes part will receive a special Lynn News Help Our Hospice Appeal certificate to display in places such as offices, schools and meeting rooms.
If you are planning an event, please get in touch with hospice community fundraiser Lindsey Atkin, who will be able to offer advice if needed.
She can be contacted by phoning 01485 542891 or by sending an email to email@example.com
Please help us to Help Our Hospice so that we can all make a difference to those people who benefit from its good work.
