This year’s fundraising by Snettisham Caravan Park has seen more than £6,500 donated to the nominated Hunstanton-based FAN (Families against Neuroblastoma) child cancer charity.
That takes the fundraising total over the past 17 years to some £76,500.
The money is raised by a team including customers and friends of Snettisham Caravan Park, including children and teenagers, who voluntarily nominate a local charity and spend weekends raising funds from April to October each year.
Four small children all under ten even raised £150.
The events vary year to year and include sponsored walks, curry evenings, cheese and wine afternoons, table top sales and charity bingo evenings; a mud walk raised over £900.
The biggest annual event was an auction on August Bank Holiday followed by free entertainment with live music.
Many donations and gifts are gratefully received for the auction from suppliers and thanks go to them all including the King William IV at Sedgeford, Orchard Caravans of Wells, Pioneer Caravans, Beach Stores, Judy De Bondt, A & M Gas Services, Caithness Crystal, Steve Layne & The Solid Gold Band and GE-BE Transport for the hire of their vehicle.
Neuroblastoma is an aggressive form of childhood cancer and more than 100 children are diagnosed in the UK each year.
If anyone would like to help with this charity, a local group can be found in Hunstanton opposite the Waterside restaurant.
The aim this year was to raise money to buy equipment, which includes special suits for swimming, for the children to enable them to have a better quality of life during the times when they feel well enough to.
