Former Labour Home Secretary Alan Johnson was welcomed to Lynn by local party members and trade union representatives.

Mr Johnson, pictured third from right, gave a talk at Thoresby College and answered questions from the audience of about 35 people on Friday.

Organiser Jo Rust said: “He came especially for this visit and people were really pleased to see such a high profile MP in Lynn.”

Questions asked included how the Labour Party would make itself attractive to young voters and to working people.

Mrs Rust said: “He was also asked if Theresa May would be the next Tory leader.”
