A piece of village history will soon be back in place thanks to a team effort from pub regulars and its landlord.

The original Union Jack sign for the pub at Station Road, Roydon, has been restored, having become worn and faded.

Pub patron Dr Judith Hills (pictured above with landlord Trevor Barlow) repaired the sign, employing the skills she learned from her father who was a sign writer.

The sign was almost lost when a previous owner changed the pub’s name almost 20 years ago, but lifetime patron Rod Lownes saved it from a skip. Photo: MLNF14AM02060
