Girls at Lynn’s Gaywood Park School welcomed an unusual visitor to their school’s frozen sports field during the Big Freeze.
This year marks the 50th anniversary of when Britain shivered under arctic temperatures and heavy snow – and pupils were playing on slides created in the ice on their school field when a cygnet flew in.
The girls provided water and soaked pieces of bread to feed the swan, which had made itself at home and was seen wondering around the school.
RSPCA chief inspector C Morrison, was informed of the swan’s visit and told the pupils how to care for their visitor. Did you attend Gaywood Park School and remember the swan? If so contact reporter Victoria Fear by emailing victoria.fear@jpress.co.uk
