Sea anglers from far and wide fished the Phil Bird Memorial match on Sunday.
Phil was well known in Hunstanton as a keen fisherman and the trophy, was donated in his memory to the RNLI by his family, to be fished for annually.
The match, fished in a fresh west, north-westerly wind, took place on Old Hunstanton beach and 21 anglers took part. Only a few fish were caught with the winner Dick Smith, from Ely, who landed a 30cm flounder. He was presented with the trophy by Phil’s partner Anita Neil. The winner keeps a smaller replica trophy. The raffle and trophy presentation took place in the crew room at the RNLI boathouse. The picture show Dick Smith being presented with his trophy by Anita.
