The BBC’s Question Time will be returning to Lynn next week, it has been announced.

The long-running political discussion programme, hosted by David Dimbleby, will be screened from the town’s Corn Exchange next Thursday, June 12.

It is the second major topical debate series to visit West Norfolk this year, after the Radio Four show Any Questions was recorded at the Sedgeford village hall in March.

The programme last visited Lynn in May 2012, when Trades Council secretary Jo Rust stole the show by telling the panel local people did not want an incinerator.

That programme was broadcast at the height of the campaign against the controversial Saddlebow proposal.

Panellists on that occasion included the former deputy prime minister John Prescott, universities minister David Willetts, Green Party MP Caroline Lucas and the actor and comedian Griff Rhys Jones.

It is understood that Ian Hislop, the editor of Private Eye and team captain on the topical news quiz Have I Got News For You, will be among the panellists this time around.

News of the programme was announced during last Thursday’s episode, which was broadcast from Heathrow.
