A body found in a quarry at Tottenhill has this afternoon, Friday, April 11, been confirmed as that of a missing Downham man.

Barry Birch, who was 44, had not been seen for more than three months. His body was discovered in a lake at the site off Watlington Road, Tottenhill yesterday.

Police say his family has been informed and his death is not being treated as suspicious.

A post-mortem examination showed that Mr Birch had drowned, though further toxicology tests are being carried out.

Mr Birch was last seen in Downham on December 28 last year. Last month, police renewed their appeals for help to trace him, exactly three months after he went missing.
