A Flitcham fundraiser raised more than £700 at a charity bingo to thank staff at a South Wootton care home for taking such good care of her aunts.
Van Blackmur organised the bingo, which was held at the Ffolkes Arms in Hillington, and raised £739.91 for Woodlands Care Home.
She said: “This was the first bingo I have held for Woodlands. I felt I wanted to do something because there’s so much adverse publicity for care homes these days and I’ve got two aunts at Woodlands, Dorothy Cottrell and Joan Rudd who are very well looked after.
“I just felt that a box of chocolates or a bunch of flowers wasn’t enough to show my appreciation to the nurses for what they do. The girls at Woodlands treat every one of those ladies like their mum.”
Around 100 people attended the bingo, which was held on September 2. Mrs Blackmur said: “I was aiming to raise £500, but the people kept on coming and we kept selling tickets.”
