Constant vandalism of a village’s public toilets may lead to them being closed, community leaders have warned.

The ultimatum was delivered by the chairman of the Sutton Bridge parish council chairman, John Grimwood, at the authority’s latest meeting last Tuesday.

Mr Grimwood said the toilets have been closed four times because of vandalism in the last few months.

He added that a water pipe had been “kicked off” in the latest incident.

He told the parish council: “Of course, we can’t put CCTV in the toilets – it’s a matter of catching the people who have done it.

“If it continues, there’s a chance we may lose our public toilet facilities.”

The toilets are run by the South Holland District Council and form part of The Curlew Centre, in Bridge Road, but the only entrance is from the car park. The toilets are currently closed for repairs.
