The chairman of Magdalen Parish Council Peter Smith and councillor Jack Morton spent the morning with Year 5-6 class at Magdalen Village school. The pupils had been looking at the advantages and disadvantages of village life and wanted to present their ideas to the parish council. The pupils prepared Powerpoints with their ideas for improvements and councillors listened carefully. The visit ended with a mock parish council meeting chaired by the councillors. Issues such as a post office, better pavements, litter problems and more youth activities were discussed.
Teacher Oonah Kelly said: “Our thanks go to the councillors for listening to the pupils’ ideas and concerns about their village.” Pictured, back row, from left are Jack Morton, Oona Kelly, Peter Smith and teaching assistant Lisa Halliday; the pupils in the front are Logan McLeod, Harry Last, Josie Kerry and Mollie Crumpler.
