Demolition work is well under way at Lynn’s Hillington Square as part of a £30 million revamp.
An excavator with an eight-tonne arm began work on “nibbling” away at section’s of Valentine House on Monday and has already made great progress.
Contractor Lovells are working with site owners Freebridge Community Housing Association to transform the 1960s estate.
Sections of Valentine House are being removed to “open up” the square to the rest of the town.
Freebridge chief executive Tony Hall said: “When we saw parts of Valentine House being demolished this week, it was another step forward. So many people have worked hard to get to this position, and to see buildings being removed to create open space was a very proud moment for all concerned.
“The demolition of this stage is due to be completed this week, as long as the weather stays kind to us! We also want to thank our tenants and the wider community for their comments, and the feedback we continue to receive about this exciting project.”
