A discount chain could soon be taking over a vacant unit on Lynn’s Hardwick Industrial Estate.

Poundland may be moving into the former Comet store, which has been standing empty since the electrical chain closed in 2012.

The discount chain has now submitted a planning application to West Norfolk Council to put up new signs at the unit in the Pierpoint Retail Park, Hansa Road.

The application, which was lodged on February 21, seeks permission to put up three signs.

Poundland has declined to comment on the application and its plans for the new store.

The chain already has a store in the Vancouver Quarter.

Electrical chain Comet closed the Lynn store in December 2012 after running into financial difficulties.

The store had employed 11 full and part time staff.

The firm, which had 195 stores across the country, had called in the administrators the month before.
