The future economic success of Hunstanton is dependant on its ability to “broaden and diversify” what is on offer to visitors, a report concludes.
The latest draft of West Norfolk Council’s strategic economic infrastructure investment plan said developing the resort’s water sports potential is key.
Elaine Clutton, Hunstanton mayor, said that is happening through the town’s masterplan of regeneration, including at the Spinney - the open space off the High Street.
She said: “With the vast improvements at the Sailing Club, Hunstanton is being firmly placed on the map as a key water-sports venue.
“Several major competitions take place in the area and we are keen to build on these. Being a key service centre for the North Norfolk Coast we are keen to expand in all areas of tourism, with the Princess Theatre now well established under new management, the newly refurbished Tourist Information Centre and the plans for the enhancement of the Spinney, we are sure we will achieve this.”
