A Fakenham guide had a very personal reason to achieve the movement’s highest possible award.
Kerry Walden, pictured right, received her Queen’s Award during a coffee evening organised by the 3rd Fakenham Guides.
She said she had been inspired to complete the award in memory of her grandmother, who died in 2010.
She said: “She was always supportive of my guiding and always encouraged me to do my Queen’s Guide and follow in my mum’s footsteps who gained hers in the late 1970s.
“Completing my award and wearing my badge will always remind me of her.”
Kerry is now an assistant guide leader and also leads the Brownie pack that her own mother led for 20 years.
Elements of the award programme included leading residential trips, organising district events, taking part in fundraising activities and attending a youth forum on guiding.
