Alderman Sam Peel is remembered these days by the High school in Wells which is named after him but in his time he was regarded as one of the most influential figures of the 20th century.
Now his grand daughter, Susan Wild, has published her own account of the life of her grandfather – Sam Peel – A Man Who Did Different.
Fakenham library is delighted that she will be sharing tales about her grandad with a talk given there on Wednesday, April 30 at 7pm. Sam Peel oversaw the reorganisation of post-war education in Norfolk, laid the foundations of the NHS in north Norfolk and took on the establishment in his tireless efforts to improve the lives of ordinary people in Wells.
