FAKENHAM: Pupils revisit school’s past

The opening of Fakenham Council school on May 21, 1913 is well-documented in its log book records and local newspaper reports.

To celebrate its centenary on May 21, 2013, Fakenham Junior school pupils and staff will be doing their best to repeat the festivities of a hundred years ago. And to their delight, Monty Python comedian and inveterate TV traveller Michael Palin, whose grandfather, Dr Edward Palin, was a pupil at the school, has agreed to attend the event.

He will be hoisting the Union flag up a new flag pole sited just where it was in 1913.

An exhibition charting the school’s long history will be open to the public from May 20 to May 24 from 3.20pm to 4.30pm in the Music room.
