Firefighters were called to Lynn’s Hardwick roundabout after receiving reports of a bus fire.

A Norfolk Green driver called the emergency services on Monday evening after seeing smoke pour from a front wheel.

The smoke was created by a problem with the brakes, which were doused down by crews from Lynn fire station.

No passengers were on board the bus, which was returning to the depot form Lynn Bus Station.

Managing director of the bus company Andrew Dyer stressed that the bus did not catch fire.

He said: “Our driver did exactly the right thing in taking a cautious approach. Thankfully the whole incident was not as serious as he feared.

“There was no significant damage to the vehicle and there were no injuries.”

The bus returned to service on Tuesday.
