Flames flared up at the site of last month’s devastating fire in Fakenham, just days before demolition work began.
Fire crews were called back to the Original Factory Shop site in Upper Market at around 3.25pm last Tuesday.
David Ashworth, head of operations at Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service, said having to return to the scene of a major blaze was not unusual.
He said: “Given the amount of debris that had fallen since the original fire and the fact crews have not yet been able to get inside the building to make it safe, it was always possible that we might experience a smouldering fire.
“We received a call from a neighbour who reported smoke coming from the building and we would like to praise their swift action in contacting us. ”
Demolition work began at the site on Friday. Investigations into the cause of the fire are continuing.
