Flippin’ eck! A school’s charity pancake race did not prove to be a flop thanks to the efforts of pupils and teachers.
Scores of sixth form students along with staff at Lynn’s Springwood High School donned fancy dress to raise money for West Norfolk Mind on Tuesday.
A total of six teams which included staff, pupils and West Norfolk Mind workers took part in three races in which they had to run and toss pancakes.
Afterwards the racers were treated to pancakes by the canteen staff.
The overall winning team were sixth form pupils in Super Crew while Expert Tossers won the fancy dress prize with their Peter Pan themed costumes.
This is the second year the school has run this event for the charity. Spectators supported a collection which was held during the race but the total for this is still being counted.
Lead teacher for achievement John Merritt was delighted that so many pupils turned out to support the races.
He said: “It went very well and was very well supported. We were really lucky the weather was fantastic.
“The races were really competitive this year and we managed to get through 12 pancakes. Last year we used the same pancakes throughout the races.”
