Former Lynn Stars world champion speedway rider Michael Lee yesterday went on trial accused of rape, assault and indecent assault.
A jury at Ipswich Crown Court heard allegations that father of four Lee, 55, forced a woman to have sex with him and assaulted her in a toilet ripping out a chunk of hair and injuring her hand.
Lee, from near Mildenhall, Suffolk, is also charged with twice sexually assaulting another woman at a pub.
The court heard that Lee has pleaded not guilty to one charge of rape and one of assault causing actual bodily harm in December 2012 and two of sexual assault between October and December 2011.
During the assault in the toilet, Lee had brandished a plastic bag which he threatened to put over her head, said prosecutor Charles Myatt.
The court heard that following his arrest in February last year Lee denied all the allegations.
Lee, co-promotor of the Mildenhall Fen Tigers, was crowned individual world speedway champion in 1980 and rode for teams including King’s Lynn, Poole and Boston.
The trial, which is expected to last for 12 days, continues.
