Shoppers visiting Fakenham will be able to park for free tomorrow afternoon as they hunt for the perfect Christmas gift.
Drivers will be able to use the town’s three North Norfolk District Council-operated car parks without paying between 2pm and 11pm on the final two Saturdays before Christmas, December 14 and 21.
Rhodri Oliver, the authority’s cabinet member for assets, said: “One of our key aims is to support local businesses and with Christmas being critical for traders, we want to encourage people to use the wealth of shops on their doorsteps.
“I hope that investing in some free car parking will encourage people to shop and to keep their shopping local.”
As previously reported, West Norfolk Council has been offering discounted parking rates in all of its Lynn car parks on Thursday evenings in the run-up to Christmas, to coincide with the town’s late-night shopping events.
The offer, which allows drivers to pay £1 to park between 3pm and midnight, ends next week when the final late-night opening takes place.
