A fundraiser had a close shave yesterday to support a friend as she battles cancer.

Debbie Obey, from Gayton, shed her locks at the Topps Hair salon in Terrington St Clement in aid of Breakthrough Breast Cancer.

Mrs Obey, pictured above, centre, was inspired to fundraise after her friend, Carolyn Bracken, pictured right, was diagnosed with the disease last month.

However, Mrs Bracken, who is due to begin treatment today, admitted she thought her friend was “crazy” to undergo the shave.

Pictured with them is the salon’s owner, Helen Bunting, who also donated £50 to the cause.
