Tyre push and a mini triathlon are some of the events which are being added to this year’s Downham Games.
Teenagers Joe Porter and Joshua Cant along with staff from Downham Leisure Centre have agreed to support the games.
This year’s event will be held at the Memorial Fields, Lynn Road, on Sunday, May 25 from 10.30am to 2.30pm
PE GCSE students Joe and Joshua have agreed to act as coaches while the leisure centre staff will be putting a host of events including a zumba taster session, a tyre push and a group warm-up session.
Duty manager Amy Metcalf said: “My team and I have seen the games grow over the last two years and feel it is a fantastic event for the community.
“Our centre is a big part of the community and this is a great opportunity to give something back.
“We are excited about our mini triathlon competition which is open to all. It includes a 750m row, 2,000m cycle and will incorporate a 400m run, which is part of the athletics competition.”
Games co-ordinator Frances Rayner, who is working with Ryston Runners, has been pleased with the support.
She said: “We have worked hard to grow the games this year by providing more activities so we can attract a bigger crowd but we also want to ensure that we keep the day manageable so everyone has a good time.”
Downham Boxing Club, Downham Football, Lynn Community Football and Denver Golf Centre will be running taster sessions.
